Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s Department of Safety and Professional Services registers Cross Connection Control Assembly Testers. The Department’s profession page says Wis. Admin. Code SPS 305.99, under Wis. Stat. section 145.06(3m), provides that no person may conduct a performance test of a cross-connection control assembly required by SPS 382.22(8) unless the person holds that registration. Education is at least 40 hours in a Department-approved course, or an ASSE-approved course meeting ASSE 5150. The credential is individual. The profession-list page says renewal requires at least six hours of acceptable continuing education. No customer test price is printed on those pages.

The profession page ties the registration to section 145.06(3m) and to SPS 305.99. It lists the two education routes: a Department-approved course of at least 40 hours covering theory, operation, testing, maintenance, and national standards, or an ASSE-approved course meeting ASSE 5150. ASSE 5150 is a course standard on that page. It is not a statement that a different ASSE certificate replaces the Wisconsin registration. The person still needs the Department registration before performing the performance test the code requires. The page lists a Madison address and the telephone 608-266-2112.

The profession-list page says renewal follows SPS 305.07 and requires at least six hours of acceptable continuing education. A person who has never held the credential uses the new-licensure path. A credential expired more than four years uses the reinstatement path on that page. Those are credential statuses, not a field-test procedure. A property owner should ask to see the current Wisconsin registration before hiring. An out-of-state card, by itself, is not what the Department page says authorizes the test.

The Department pages used here do not publish a single roster file or a customer fee. Questions about the credential go to the telephone on the profession page. The owner remains responsible for having a required device tested, which is why the registration exists. Ask the water supplier whether the assembly is one that SPS 382.22(8) requires to be performance-tested, and ask the tester to show the registration before the visit. Do not ask the tester to teach you the test.
